Introduction
Welcome to the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit CART meeting. This program is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and resilience of those dedicated to locating and recovering missing individuals across our state. Our goal is to ensure every member of this unit is equipped with the tools, insight, and readiness to respond effectively and compassionately in the most urgent and sensitive of circumstances. Your commitment to this work saves lives and this training will empower you to do it even better.
Additionally, we want to promote a community preparedness mindset that empowers individuals and neighborhoods to take proactive steps, share resources, and support one another in building resilience before, during, and after emergencies.
Overview
Throughout this training, we will cover critical components of missing persons investigations, including the use of DNA in identification, advanced interview techniques, and strategies for building mental and emotional resilience in high-stakes cases. We will also conduct an in-depth case study on an AMBER Alert incident to draw actionable lessons from real-world experience. In addition to these and other training blocks, each participant is invited and encouraged to attend networking sessions hosted by some of our partners.
